The college’s sudden need to relocate threatened the continuation of their transformative educational approach at a moment when their work was more relevant than ever. With competing priorities and limited resources, they needed clear insights into the competitive landscape that had evolved significantly since their founding in 1991. They needed emerging models that blend traditional academic approaches with regenerative practices

Working with faculty who had shaped regenerative thinking for decades, I developed:

• A comprehensive database tracking 500+ global organizations operating at the intersection of systems change and education.
• Trend analysis – identifying emerging business models successfully funding transformative education outside traditional tuition structures
• Strategic Insights & Opportunity Mapping – Created a competitive landscape audit that highlighted pathways for sustaining their work, including new program structures
• Executive-Level Presentation – Delivered findings to the leadership team, providing opportunity areas to explore at their strategy retreat.

Outcome

The research and analysis fed into early discussions on this strategic shift, ensuring they could maintain their deep-rooted commitment to place-based learning while fostering resilience through a decentralized model. With this new approach, Schumacher College is poised to continue shaping regenerative leaders for decades to come.
